I applied through college or university. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Meta (New York, NY) in Feb 2016
Interview
I got this interview through college recruitment. One week after I submitted my CV and portfolio, a recruiter contacted me to schedule an 30 minutes interview with a product designer from Facebook. The first interview was taken at my college and went very well. We had a great conversation. I talked about my background and presented two of my projects to her. The second day I got the email, that I had passed the first round and needed to take the next interview at the Facebook NYC office on Saturday. It lasted for one hour: 30 minutes for portfolio and 30 minutes for app critique. Two designers interviewed me in turn for different parts. The second part was pretty hard and I didn't make it. But this interview is still a very valuable experience to me.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Choose an app that you like and use a lot, describe how you can redesign it and why.
Straightforward like any big tech interview, but long and intense. Formats are pretty standardized so it just takes practice. Questions appear like it's from a bank, so if you're prepared you should be fine.

Interview
I was reached out by a recruiter. Started with the recruiter call, then portfolio presentation, then full loop (Portfolio presentation - app critique - design challenge - background). They had very strong emphasis on design craft and visual excellence. Recruiter who helped me prep was very nice and helpful.
Typical interview process consisting of multiple rounds—Pre-screen, Portfolio Presentation, Full-Loop (Presentation, App Crit, Whiteboard Challenge and Behavioral) - Felt I did really well, and I got great feedback during the rounds but ultimately received no offer.
