30 minute phone screen with a very friendly recruiter, then a 45 minute video interview with the hiring manager. Recruiter was very nice and encouraging but the hiring manager was very stuck up and tired when he interviewed me. He didn't really want to interview me.

Question 1
What is a challenge you faced in the past year and how did you go about solving it?
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
The interview process was similar to others I've had, but definitely better than most of the other companies I interviewed with. I had a phone call with the recruiter who reached out to me via email, then a call with the hiring manager, then a take-home exercise (to be completed in one week), and then an onsite!
What I loved about the interview process was that I thought it was challenging but incredibly fair. The take-home exercise is something I was able to complete but wasn't a walk-in-the-park. I do remember thinking how incredibly thoughtful the exercise was structured, because it touched on so many relevant web-development topics. I really enjoyed working on it.
After finishing the exercise, I was invited onsite and interviewed with 4 different people. Two interviews were technical, and two were more conversational. Part of the onsite interview involves doing a code review of your own assessment, which I really enjoyed.
Another wonderful thing about my interview process was that my panel was 50-50 male-female, which has never happened before and I've done quite a few onsites! Overall, I had a great interview experience and felt that my recruiter was preparing me the best she could and that she really advocated for me as a candidate. It means a lot.

Question 1
Web-development questions, but I don't want to share specifics.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Slack (San Francisco, CA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Incredibly professional experience all around. I was always greeted on time, and they were sure to stay in touch while I waited for next steps. I never felt abandoned as I have at other companies during the recruiting process.
