Slack Project Manager interview questions

Recruiter reached out on Linkedin and expressed interest in my profile. Phone screen was scheduled quickly that I cleared. Then they moved me to onsite and pressurized to come onsite asap. Gave an assignment for which they requested a solution and presentation. Submitted the solution before onsite. During onsite the steps were: 1. Presenting the solution to the interview panel. 2. 1-1 interviews with hiring manager, engineering managers, product manager, and lead engineer, and recruiter. 3. Lunch interview with the peer in the targeted team. As other reviewers mentioned they will pressurize you to move forward asap. Recruiter will mention that they want to make a decision faster so they want to give you a fair chance. But after your interview they might not get back to you right away. In my case, they got back to me after 2 weeks and that too on my follow-up. Overall a negative experience from recruiting perspective. But a positive experience from the actual interviewing team. Team was very good and was solving some difficult problems. However, I will stay away from Slack in future.

Hard to describe. Very chaotic. Almost no Product Managers on my interview loop. Most of them were right out of school and didn't seem to know how to interview well. At least not for PM. The recruiter was very nice. If you are over 30, then don't bother with this place. More than 50% of the company has been there for less than a year. While the CEO claims to value diversity, age/experience is clearly not something he values. Or, the company is growing too fast that they can't maintain the original culture. Lots of young, underqualified, inexperienced interviewers who don't seem to want anyone more qualified than them around. Might block their rise. So, clearly, politics has taken hold of Slack. One interviewer was overtly discourteous in the interview. Highly unusual behavior in my experience. This individual was right out of college and hasn't received much in the way of coaching. Overall, pretty negative impression. Slack seemed to be the anti-bro unicorn in town. This might be true, if you are young enough to get hired.
