I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at The Home Depot (Cedar Park, TX) in Jan 2015
Interview
Not so grueling, depends on who you get an interview with. Timing is important as the stores in the Austin area were in a rush to hire a certain amount of people, which helped. Most of the new hires went o either garden, which is where the company loses most of its workers, according to a store manager and also for cashiers, who get paid even less.

Interview
Applied online via the Home Depot Career Portal, then was asked to take a series of online evaluations pertaining to customer service-type situations and general product knowledge.
Received an email about one week later asking that I call a toll-free number to answer questions. I called and spoke to someone who asked me a few behavioral-type questions such as "Tel me about a time when you worked with a team to solve a problem>' Was offered an interview after answering the questions.
I interviewed with the Operations Manager at my local store, where i was asked a specific series of questions form a booklet. The questions were also behavioral in nature, such as "How would you handle a rude customer?" etc. I was offered the position at the end of the interview.
