I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at The Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, MD) in Sep 2013
Interview
First interview was just with the HR representative and included 4 computer tests, proofreading, MS Word, MS Excel, and writing. Interview questions were fairly typical for an HR interview. Was asked to come back for a second interview at the end of this one.
Second interview was a week later with the Director and an employee who previously held the same position. Was a pretty casual interview. No real grilling or formal questions. More interested in my experience and how it applied to the position. Got a follow up phone call from HR a day or two later for a third interview.
Third interview was a week after the second and was a group interview that involed the rest of the department, 6 employees. About 3 of the employees had a fair number of questions, others were more quiet. Some felt more formal, others more relaxed.
Through the entire process, HR was good about sending confirmation emails including the names and titles of all the interview participants.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Nothing was too unexpected. The HR questions were more the formal interview type. The rest were more relaxed.
Not so long and very open! Happened during Covid so everything was virtually done. Love the experience. Interview was done in 3 different parts as well. Every supervisor was friendly. They broke down the job duties very much so too.

Interview
I met with an HR representative, Executive Assistant and a Chief of Staff for 20 minutes. It was a second interview, following a preliminary in-person meeting. I wrote thank you notes and prepared a writing sample in the hope I will be granted a third and final job interview. The third interview will take place in 2-3weeks.

Why do you want want to work here? What was a challenge with former office? What is your strength? What is your approach to busy office life? How do you rate your writing ability 1-5? Do you have questions for us?

Interview
It was a long process, but it was worthwhile because I had the opportunity to meet everyone on the team and understand the workings of the office and the culture.
