Very straightforward, i really liked the interviewers style they were very informative towards me and allowed me to ask many questions. Most of the interview was about management styles, and working alongside others in the team

Applied for a wealth management trainee program, was declined but was still offered a position in the same role but not in the program. Interview process was comprised of an initial phone call and a zoom meeting. Salaries differ heavily between program and temp position for the same role.
I applied online. I interviewed at UBS (Weehawken, NJ) in Jun 2025
Interview
First round interview went well with questions related to Java 8 and 17 features, Spring boot, hibernate, microservices and an architecture diagram from my recent experience.
Second round interview was with the director. Director was very knowledgeable but the communication was very condescending. Often no feedback for the answers - causing confusion if I answered correct or wrong. Deep dive into Java - which I appreciated. The design questions were vague, broad and often received an unclear explanation for the questions I asked. The interviewer probably had a particular approach to design a system and was not familiar with what I wanted to convey(his comment - something does not add up when I answered a question - instead of explaining what he was expecting). I hope he is a little more compassionate to people who are interviewing(regardless of candidate's skill). Though I received a rejection, I'm glad I'm not reporting to him. I have interviewed with many companies - provided with embarrassing answers and poor performance in the interview but never felt low and the interviewers were kind. I hope this second round experience was one of a kind and I will be able to forget about it soon.
