I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at US Air Force
Interview
Joing the military is not rocket science. They will ask you a bunch of questions. They will scheudle you to take a test called the ASVAB and you will also take a physical. If you have not been convicted of any crimes and you are in decent health, you should be good to go. It is possible to have everything done within a few days, but most people do it over several months.
I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (VAFB, CA) in May 2012
Interview
An application needs to be completed and submitted on the USA Jobs site for a specific job. If selected within the top 3 candidates, a thorough background check will then be done. If background checks out, then a very intense and detailed interview will be done. Advice: Get to the point quickly without extra conversation. Give additional information, only if asked.
