I applied in-person. The process took 6 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Pleasanton, CA)
Interview
The hiring and interview part is easy, you just contact an U.S. Air Force Recruiter and sign a contract once you pass the physical exam and meet other requirements. The most important thing to have before you sign that contract and raise your hand for the oath of enlistment, is a “job reservation” (in writing) as a “Cyber Systems Operator” that assures your job. This means that the U.S. Air Force will train you and assign you to Cyber Systems units unless you fail the Cyber technical school(s).

Question 1
Even though you’ll be working with the latest technology (behind a desk), you must be physically and mentally tough in the military service. Why? Many of us have deployed to combat areas and you must be able to do your job under pressure and meet the demand of the mission.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Atlanta, GA) in Jun 2010
Interview
Lots of paperwork. Not a fun process that is long and tiring and very demanding. So many questions that have nothing to do with what your are going to be doing. Takes an entire weekend.
The hiring process was pretty bland and easy.. just have to go through the whole medical procedures and process. Once youre through MEPS you attend basic training, that's 8 weeks of your life you will hate forever. Then is tech school, pass your school then onto your first assignment.
