I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Jacksonville, FL) in Aug 2010
Interview
The recruiter I had was awesome. He really helped prepare me for basic training and the Air Force by being down to earth and providing insight. The process really wasn't that hard. Filling out all the paperwork is time consuming but you can do it all in about 4 hours. The interview process after that was at the military entrance processing station and that was about a 2 day process because I had to take the ASVAB while I was there. While you're there you receive physical exams, eye exams, and hearing exams. Once you pass those you speak with another recruiter and tell them what jobs you prefer. They make sure you meet the criteria for them and then submit your request. You also enter the delayed entry program while you're there. Once you get back it took about 3 weeks to hear what job I got and it was about 6 months after that when I shipped out for basic training.

There weren't really any that I remember. It was all pretty straight forward.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Flint, MI) in Jan 2009
Interview
In comparison to the civilian sector the interview process is somewhat nonexistent. The biggest factor that comes into play is making sure you don't disqualify yourself with a previous medical issue, financial status, drug use, etc. the recruiter is the only obstacle to overcome in the initial interview process. If you trip him/her as an actual hiring manager the process will run smoothly.
