Interview
The "interview" process was more of a detailed package review. You submit a commander's application package which included items such as your letter of intent (i.e. cover letter), letters of recommendation, performance reports, picture, location preferences, resume, etc. Packages were reviewed by a headquarters level panel that first determined if your were selected to be a commander. If you were selected for command, you were subsequently matched to a location. Depending on the type of command position, there may be interview involved.

Interview
You talk to a recruiter, the recruiter lies to you or is misinformed, you join, then you realize you wanted to do something else. But sometimes they're cool and fill out all your paperwork before you go to training, so that's nice.
