Interview
Went through 5 informal and 1 formal board for position as reserve pilot in Tampa Bay, FL. Board was comprised of 9 mid to senior level pilots/officers and mid-level enlisted flight crew member. I was hired but my paperwork was rejected by "big AF" b/c my time away from military cockpit exceeded limits.
I applied in-person. The process took 12 months. I interviewed at US Air Force (Dallas, TX)
Interview
You will have to contact a recruiter and express your interest to join. Next, take the ASVAB to determine future job placement. Then you will have the option to select a job (career field), and take a physical based on your career field. Once complete and accepted, attend Basic and Technical training.
I applied through college or university. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at US Air Force (Colorado Springs, CO) in Jun 2018

Basic training is the interview process. This is not something that you are able to pick up and do if you are wanting to be active duty military. Good luck to you if you choose to serve.
