Its more of a screening process than a job interview... back ground/credit check with possible investigators visiting your personal preference listing to ask questions. Have to list where you have lived for the past 10/20 years and schools attended. Medical screening with a doctor. Must be in good mental/physical condition.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at US Air Force (Miami, FL) in Jan 2014
Interview
They make sure you aren't brain dead, don't do drugs, and can get a clearance. Pretty much covers the interview. After that, you can get in and do pretty much anything. If you have those qualifications, you can get a job here.
Three-part hiring process. Employment questionnaire and supporting documents are submitted and qualified by computer/screener. Resume and supporting documents are reviewed for relevancy to position. Top candidates are selected for interviews and all answer the same questions. Each step in the process is independent of the others, so don't assume the interviewer is familiar with the contents of your resume, for example.

Question 1
One of the application questions is a multiple choice for level of qualifying engineering experience, ranging from education (engineering degree) to many years of experience combined with a Professional Engineeering license.
