I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at US Navy (Roseville, CA) in Jan 2011
Interview
To begin with, you have to go to the recruiters office and select a job or focus on what job you want. after that the recruiters will guide you through a stack of paperwork for prior felonies and jobs you had as well as your drug history to make sure you aren't a screw up. Then you will take the practice asvap test to see where your mind is at so that the recruiters can tell you if you have a chance to make the job you want. After the practice asvap you will go to MEPS or what i call the department of defense local manpower processing area to take the real asvap and get medically screened to see whether you can have the job you want or not. Since this is a 1 on 1 process that is not like a normal interview i cant say that there really is an interview. it is more just answering questions and telling the recruiter what job you want.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Have you ever done drugs and if so, when did you do them? Since you are 18 have you ever drank alcohol?
The hiring process was done online through USA Jobs. I received an email saying I was selected for an interview, and set a date for the interview. After I arrived, it was very straight forward. They sat me down in a conference room with 3 division managers and they rotated asking me questions. The questions were straight forward and the interview was very informal.

You must take the ASVAB exam in order to meet the minimum academic standard as well as help determine the spectrum of jobs available to you. You will also be tested for mental stability.
