I applied online. I interviewed at Waitrose (Billericay, England)
Interview
Two people interviewed me, both in a group and on my own. Very friendly and the group interview was quite relaxing. Gave us feedback on how we answered questions in the group interview and told us why they would do it different. Didn't get the job but was glad it was my first interview.

Question 1
Practical team exercise giving us a list of tasks and asking us how we would complete them and why. Also asking us which three items we would choose for staff to taste test for summer and why.
I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (Uckfield, England) in May 2019
Interview
Four of us, all with years of retail experience under our belt. We had a scenario and interview it was like being interviewed for a managerial position, other positions available, but only one got the job. They lost out on three other quality applicants. Too clinical, answers are just graded with points.

Question 1
We all had 6 sheets with colleague's skills and work that needed doing that day and had to designate work to each colleague. Then, hilarious, an added scenario, a Seagull flies into the shop, what would you do?? The whole process felt like it was for a higher position than a shop assistant. The person that got the position was a Manager of a Charity Shop. The rest of us had an email saying we would be put on the 'favourites list' so we wouldn't have to apply online again. I really feel that I couldn't go through that whole group interview and one to one, being graded by points, not on personality and experience. Producing a chart showing how the work is distributed to each shop assistant. Isn't that a Manager's job? The other people there were intelligent and experienced and would have made great employees too (this isn't just about me not getting the job).
A group problem-solving interview and then a personal one-on-one interview. You are given a problem which you have to come up with a solution to as a group, once finished you are individually interviewed by the hiring manager.
