I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (Sidcup, England) in Sep 2016
Interview
As far as i can remember there was one long multiple choice situational judgement test giving possible scenarios on the shop floor where you pick which response you would most likely give.. (might of been 5 or so answers and you rate them from best response to worst response'
TIPS:
- One of Waitrose's key rules is that the customer is always right.. so within reason always pick the answer that would best suit the customer.
- Try not to pick any answers that involve 'throwing your colleague under the bus' i.e. reporting to the manager that a colleague has done something wrong. Waitrose likes team work and friendly work environments. However, don't pick answers that say stuff like 'i would leave my important task to go help a friend'.
- Make sure you understand which scenarios prompt you to use your initiative and complete a task yourself and which prompt you to ask a manager for guidance.
I next was offered an interview at the store which was quick and not too formal then they offered me the job maybe a week later.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Waitrose (London, England) in Oct 2018
Interview
Completed situation judgement online test. Ranking scenarios from most likely to least likely. Next, I was invited to attend a group assessment which is split into 2 parts (Group task and 1 to 1 interview).
Group Task: where you are given a scenario and are provided with Waitrose store items, after understanding the customer needs you then start recommending suitable products to the customer which is tailored to his/her needs. Give everyone a chance to share their opinions and add on to peoples ideas if you can.
1 to 1 interview: Last stage of the process. Ensure you prepare and research about the company and why you want to work for Waitrose.
On the assessment day, you will be asked to fill in a sheet. Sheet consists of the time and day you are able to work and you will need to write down your sizes (waist size in inches, etc) for your uniform.
