I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Walmart (Phoenix, GA) in Oct 2014
Interview
Structured, situation-based questions, based on core competencies, such as use of judgment, ethics, influence and communicate, etc...."tell me a time when you had to use effective judgment..." etc. If it's an hourly job you're interviewing for, then You will sit with an hourly manager first, and if they like you, then you get moved on to a salaried manager usually same day, within minutes of each other. Generally it will be the hourly supervisor that will manage you directly, and the assistant manager over that entire area. If it is salaried you are after, then it differs. If it's asset protection manager, you will sit with the Store manager and your market asset protection manager usually together. Be prepared for that. If it is separate, then generally you will sit with SM first, and then SM and market asset protection manager together in a different day. If that happens, be prepared with some different responses so the SM doesn't hear them again and you don't look like a robot.
I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Walmart in Nov 2015
Interview
I was in the position of a Asset Protection Associate. My Asset Protection Manager saw talent in me and submitted me into the APA Development Program which teaches you the basics of store operations (Asset protection side). There was an over the phone interview to get into the program. After completion of the program I chose the store i wanted to interview for and potentially work for. Process took 1 month from time of submitting application to being job offered.
Interview itself included Market Asset Protection Manager along with Store Mgr for the store. Interview was by the book. Asked me about 10 situational questions on how i would go about handling specific situations. To each question, they had subquestions (see below). At the end, they might ask you personal questions about yourself and you get to ask questions you may have about the position.
