Describe how you handled a difficult situation at work with a coworker.
Your response should be in formal-writing style (essay/paragraph format, complete sentences). You have 10 minutes. Please email it back when you are done or at the 10-minute mark, whichever comes first. On the Crisis Line, one of the main goals is to make the caller feel heard, help de-escalate any immediate crisis and collaborate with the caller on the next best step to take. This maybe helping them connect with a mental health service, or maybe as simple as doing breathing exercises and trying to get some rest. We believe the caller is the expert in their situation and knows what will be best for them. This may mean that the Crisis Line Counselor may feel the caller would really benefit from mental health services, but the caller may not want to connect with services. Sometimes help looks different from the person who is trying to help from the person who is needing the help. Give us an example of a time when what you wanted to see happen for a person you wanted to help, did not happen because the person chose differently. How did you manage that outcome for yourself?
