Rate of pay in the economic climate of Mi. This was before they changed their hiring practices and now have a different pay structure,

Cons

Age discrimination. When I applied and listed my true graduation dates and full range of experience I got no call back. When I accidentally wrote my grad dates wrong and only listed recent jobs to make it look as if I was younger, I received an interview opportunity. HUGE issue, if you look at their stores, there is only younger people. I had never seen an older area manager and all the staff at the interview were under 30. I was embarrassed to be interrogated by pipsqweeks.

The pay is good and so is the health insurance package they offer. Nice having the holidays off with pay.

Cons

long hours. physically and mentally exhausting. Overwhelming work load. Never enough employees. Unrealistic demands. Taking break would put you behind.

Store manager is as far as you're going

Pros

Aldi does offer higher pay and better benefits than others in the market. It also saves you money on getting a gym membership.

Cons

Lack of opportunities for advancement. Once you are on one path then that's where you are staying. After running a store for a month have learned that district managers don't care about their managers. I was told that you just have to tell your family goodbye for a few weeks in order to get the job done. Not as family orientated as they once where and claim to be.
