Pros

Pay is ok, but they make it seem like you will never do better which is not true!

Cons

It is only when you leave Aldi and luckily in my case go to a fantastic employer, that you realise how bad it was to work there. No flexibility on life at all, had to be at desk at 8am on the dot and if 1 minute late had to apologise and explain why. Had to beg to leave for appointments etc. Micro managed to the worst degree. Did twice as much work as the rest of the team but only ever told what I was doing wrong not right. People who get promoted are the ones that upper management like, not the most capable. When I joined they had this endless list of the most archaic rules, like no stubble, never use multiple fonts in an email, no lunch at desk, if have water had to be in a glass and not a bottle, women couldn't wear shoes that showed the toes, advised against wearing too many earrings, the list goes on. Thankfully now I work for the most incredible company who are flexible and encouraging. It made me realise that not all managers are as awful as the ones I had at Aldi.

Pros

Decent hours if you're in a store with high staffing needs. It's a good learning experience.

Cons

Managers will cut your hours in half with no warning (25 is considered FT here. Which is BS.) Ridiculous time limits for grocery pallets that are leaning and 6 feet tall. Store management speaks inappropriately to and about store associates. New DMs never have an accurate idea of how the stores actually run and has unrealistic expectations. (Hire people with RETAIL EXPERIENCE and not just newbies with a degree.) Theft happens more than it should. Customers are allowed to claim prices are lower than they are and management will allow it depending on the day/person. Certain employees are allowed to walk around doing FaceTime on the clock. Some of us are forced/harassed to rush constantly while others are either not trained or just allowed to slack off/be slower than the rest of us. Antagonistic employees depending on whose shift you're on.

Management with zero experience in your field trying to tell you how to do your job. Top down mgmt.
