Pros

If you are ruthless and ambitious you can move up in this company very quickly. Very sociopath friendly company.

Cons

The culture at Aldi: Here are the main phrases I heard everyday during my near 10 years with Aldi. 1. "Work harder and faster" no matter how hard or fast you are working, it will never be good enough. There are no excuses. 2. "You can't go home 'til it's finished". If it takes an extra 6 hours after a 10 hour night shift, tough luck. 3. "Your thanks is your paycheck" never expect a thankyou or well done. That's what is expected of you, because Aldi pays you the extra pound an hour. Anything less is unacceptable. "I just go home and drink" I lost count of how many members of the management team give this exact answer when speaking about how they cope with the pressure.

SOLID PART TIME WORK

Pros

Friendly team Pay is above industry average $100 budget per employee for semi-annual work outings (Christmas party and team building)

Cons

Inconsistent work roster Your enjoyment will rely on your management a lot High pressure environment Do not go on a Trainee Store Manager Program. It takes 3 years to complete and they will promise you an Assistant Store Manager position after 3 years but will never eventuate. Be a deputy manager instead, you'll earn about 10% more with much less responsibility. Not much room for growth No staff discount

Pros

Good team environment Active job Good management team within my store.

Cons

Underpaid for the work you have to do. Not enough staff. Deputy Manager perks massively reduced or non existent so company saves money.
