You will get injured! Due to the constant physical activity of the job (we don't always sit at tills) and the lack of job rotation injuries happen a lot. Aldi will say that they'll look after you but they mostly try and cover themselves and will look for any reason to push the blame onto you. They expect free work! You're expected to be working 10 minutes before your shift (unpaid) and if you're on the close the likely hood is you're not leaving on time, if this happens they'll "forget" to pay you for your extra time even changing the time you clocked out manually. Terrible management style! It's more stick than carrot at Aldi, be prepared to grow thick skin. You're monitored on everything! From scan rate to how fast you put stock out. Failure to stick to their strict (and ludicrous) time schedule will result in recorded conversations with your managers. Back to back shifts! Until recently Aldi expected you on occasions for you to finish a night shift at 10:30/11pm and start a morning shift at 6am the following morning, this isn't just wrong it's dangerous. The job is very physical and you'll be using heavy machinery so with only 5 hours sleep (if you're lucky) accidents happen a lot!
