Pros

- Excellent benefits and compensation. 80k during first year of training, 85k during second year, 93k during 3rd, 100k after 4 years. 3 weeks vacation after first year. Company car included. - Great company culture and wise senior management. - Business is great, company is growing like crazy. Management is fair.

Cons

- Work/life balance is minimal. 50 hours per week is the expectation, but it is hard to just work 50. Typical weeks were 60 with drive time. Some weeks were 65-70 during training year or holidays. Turnover is high, so at any given moment, you could be given more stores (longer drive times/work day). - Career path is very structured. There are very few positions you can be promoted to, so they are very competitive. Typically, the DM holds the position for 4-5 years and is then promoted to a Director.

Pros

If you are willing to put in the time, the pay is nice, but you really need to be more single to do this

Cons

if you want to manage people making barely above minimum wage for the rest of your life, this is the career to you

Pros

The salary is very good, they are closed a few more holidays than most other retailers and their health benefits are less expensive compared to other employers.

Cons

As a Manager, there is no work / life balance. Very long days get even longer when your closing mgr calls out and you can't find a replacement so it's you that has to stay. It gets even better when you are driving down to your store at 2 am because of an alarm call due to your freezer or your multi-deck failing. You will work like a dog putting out 24 pallet deliveries 4x a week. You are made to play tricks on your employees to see if they are doing their job. In the end it doesn't make a difference how hard you worked, how many hours you spend in your store, how much pride you put into your stores presentation and preparedness, you will still be discharged. Not everyone is "made for Aldi" is their favorite line, and they certainly got THAT right. Skip over this employer, you'll be glad you did. Trust me.
