Pros

There are a lot of nice people there. They have a lot of events for employees.

Cons

This role does all the work for the director. Anything that goes wrong, you are blamed for it. Supplier delays, your fault, supply chain issues, your fault, product not as specified, your fault. You are at the every whim of your buyer who knows nothing about how to process or the systems, just get it done. Software changes all the time, it works one day, not the next, IT can not duplicate the error, just redo everything. Aldi has also begun to outsource these roles. Everyone is overworked and on edge, many are looking for new opportunities but everything is limited for this role. This is a good job if you are looking to get some experience and move on. If you are looking to grow at Aldi, start at the store level and plan to be there for 5 plus years. Even the work from home policy changes days every couple of months, so you can never truly get comfortable with anything.

Pros

Good company, great experience, flexibility.

Cons

Associate buyers are not set up for success. Training is horrible- just a person on Teams reading off of a screen. No mentorship because most managers are from operations/DM roles and don’t know how to buy. Management/Directors don’t understand the workload on ABs. Other departments dumping their needs on the ABs. Impossible to get any help from anyone because no one knows what’s going on with new system and process. Pay could definitely be better. Overwhelmingly high number of females in associate roles (sexist much?) Managers act like they’re in a frat. No pay negotiations- someone could have a smaller commodity than you and get paid the same. Unreasonable workload and no one is in a hurry to bring on new employees. The encouragement to grow within company is a lie. Redoing extensive work is a common occurrence. Did I mention that management is a joke?
