Pros

Line managers were very understanding and tried their best given the circumstances. Staff were well accommodated to suit their personal needs.

Cons

There was no care or consideration in the slightest from the upper management. Even though the line managers were generally understanding, two of them were nepo babies who were terrible at managing their crew, often being overly strict, such as threatening to send people to the back if they caught them chatting to each other while working and making a colleague announcement if our pick speed wasn't quick enough. Despite this, they would often gab to their mates instead of working and not even try to address any complaints we had. Some of the coworkers were really dirty and inconsiderate, leaving a mess in the aisles that we couldn't get through, putting items in the wrong location, taking coworkers' food in the canteen, and coming to work while sick (one guy came in while sick with corona virus). Upper management were too lax about the issues being brought up. The app we needed to use in order to find the items to pick was constantly wrong and any time it was pointed out to them, they simply didn't care or couldn't be bothered to fix it. This alone made doing the work utterly interminable, and resulted in slow pick speeds a lot. The devices weren't always available either, sometimes an entire hour into the shift was spent waiting for the person responsible to arrive just to make them accessible. The bags we were supposed to use were the cheapest, environmentally hazardous, and most unwieldly ones they could use. Upper management wouldn't invest in this department enough so they had no choice but to use those bags and, again, it only made the tasks more needlessly frustrating to do.
