Pros

Flexible in my experience. Managers are flexible and understanding. Wages are right and on time in my experience. Training is usually provided for new jobs. Employees are kept up to date with what is going within the store and wider company. The store generally has a respectable atmosphere. And most of the time management is empathetic to the views and circumstance of employees. In my experience all of the pros mentioned ring true. I'm sure there are more but none come to mind.

Cons

When the order comes from England HQ to cut hours, local management obsessively and fanatically do so, everyone is cut down to their contract hours and rotas and completely rewritten. It is understandable but the process is brutal and can be questionable as the 3 week rota notice policy is often violated. If you're betting on getting more hours that your contract that week then dream on.
