Pros

Pay was reasonable and work was easy enough. As a supermarket it's good and so discount card is worth having.

Cons

Managers were really unpleasant and had unreasonable expectations. Didn't understand how long a task took and weren't happy when it wasn't done in their unrealistic time-frame. Rotas were a mess and I ended up with a disciplinary for missing a shift that I was put on at the last minute and not informed. Wouldn't give me study leave for exams, despite assuring me that they would. This was the reason for me leaving. However experience will vary greatly depending on the store and the managers at each.

Pros

Good culture on paper but no one really lived it to be honest, management only used it to beat you up at reviews in order to mark you down so you don't get a raise

Cons

If the face does not fit you are not moving on is hat I have to say, big claims are made but very few are lived up to. Far too intrusive of family life

Pros

I've worked for ASDA for 10+ years, I have met some great people and worked my way up to management. Benefits are good - discount card, double discount weeks (before Xmas), lots of different benefits on the greenroom employees website. Opportunities are there if you're willing to learn, travel and development yourself.

Cons

The pay gap between D zone (first tier management) and logistic colleagues is now in the negative, meaning a Lates and Nights warehouse Colleague earns more per hour than his Manager. This is due to recent pay awards for colleagues of 8+% and managers only receiving 1%
