Pros

The home shopping department at my store is like a little hidden Utopia amongst the mean streets of Northamptonshire. This particular store also enjoys the presence of the best Personal Shopper in the Whole Wide World and 2 of the best beards in the UK. You get to drive a lovely van around the lovely countryside delivering shopping to lovely, lovely people, listening to lovely music. Love the wide-angle mirrors. Automatic vans so you can steer with your left hand and leave your right arm on the window sill, and as to what to do with your free hand, use your imagination, the sky is the limit. Savage and relentless banter in the depot. Seriously green uniform.

Cons

"We're one of the biggest private sector employers in the world"......... But 2 months to get a pair of trousers. Being paid the bare legal minimum, to the penny, doesn't make you feel too valued. No extra money for driving. Considering the difference in potential consequences of messing up your job when stacking a shelf to driving a goods vehicle, that's pretty harsh. Reversing an Iveco autobox up a steep hill is an acquired skill for sure, u get used to it though. You might find yourself driving your own car miles down the motorway in 4th gear, and pulling up to roundabouts in 5th and wondering why you start to stall. Getting promoted would mean working in an ASDA. Other than that, no cons. Great job.

Pros

The colleges iv met while employed by by asda are some of the best people iv ever met. Plenty of overtime available.

Cons

No celebration of good work, terrible work life balance. Pay not good unless you work ridiculous hours. My last week of employment I worked 78 hours going full days with no opportunity to take a break.

Pros

It pays the bills....... sort of

Cons

Poor pay, a lot of stress. Constantly demanding, if you do your best they always want you to do better. Asda is not as flexible as they make out. The new contract "Your Choice" that came out this month is outrageous and its the start of slate labour. My opinion.... find something else. If your face doesn't fit you've got no chance in progression onto Section Leader or higher.. even if you've excelled in everything you do.
