Pros

10% Discount card but by the way they go on about it and the risks involved with using it you would think it was 90%. I do believe the ASDA ethos is a brilliant thing but its not adhered to at all at Teesport.

Cons

Untrained, unprofessional, inexperienced and unapproachable Managers. No Leadership No direction. Managers spend far to long in meetings amounting to nothing other then revolving the same pathetic ideas over and over again. Managers are Teflon coated in that nothing ever sticks to them they constantly bully and discriminate against Colleagues but when investigated by another Manager they get away with it to do it again and again. As a Colleague you go through a process of hearings with these uneducated Managers who treat you in a unprofessional and unfair way normally ending in a final warning or termination of your contract. This is normally then told to everyone else as confidentiality does not exist Managers cant wait to tell colleagues what has happened in a investigation . For such a so called "GREAT" place to work the turn over of staff within Teesport in its 9+ years of been open is huge this in itself speaks volumes as to what sort of place it is. Health and Safety is a total joke it looks good on a paper but so much is covered up and hidden by dishonest Management and a Health and Safety Manager who is only interested in himself and his own career the colleagues mean nothing to him he has made colleagues afraid to report things because of his unprofessional and unfair handling of so many cases. Advice given or suggestions offered to him are just met with a negative and unprofessional response. I strongly believe that ASDA is a great company to work for and has invested a lot of time and money into making it so. Sadly they don't look into how depots are run they don't vet the calibre or quality of Managers who are suppose to practice and preach the ASDA "Values" i can only speak for ASDA Teesport IC i have worked here over 9 years since it opened and watched something that started so brilliantly become the awful place of work it is now.

Pros

The colleagues are all really nice people and i get along with them well. Good store in terms of value for money, promotions and a great choice of products.

Cons

The management are god awful. They don't have a clue what they are doing and are all trying to impress one another and those senior to themselves at the expense of the employees. They also seemingly just wander around aimlessly and don't do much, even when we are really busy they wont join in. My department (portering) is neglected greatly and we are always understaffed. Time off policies are bad and no sick pay is also not on.

Pros

Have worked for ASDA for 13 yrs, seen lots of changes, but enjoy every day. I've seen 6 G.S.M's come through the Store and each one has implemented some brilliant strategies for improvement.

Cons

I really dislike the total lack of respect for mature colleagues, instead of realising they are an important part of the team, they are often treated as if they are already suffering from Alzheimers disease . We have too many team leaders with very little life experience or "people skills "
