Pros

Great company with long track record, great benefits, and healthy product pipeline.

Cons

Great company & benefits but level of micromanagement & job satisfaction is ultimately determined at a local level by mid-level management. Many are qualified to be managers, but few are qualified to be leaders. My advice is to do your homework on potential managers, & keep in mind that you're also interviewing them to lead you.

Pros

Company will match donations to external organizations

Cons

Zero work life balance depending on your manager and function. Extremely toxic culture with many managers drunk off the company Kool-Aid. Managers are inexperienced and act robotic, will always tow the party line despite what they may philosophically believe in. Employees being forced to return in the middle of a PANDEMIC, showing how expendable we are. Uneducated idea that in-office presence will somehow increase sales (and no, it’s not about preserving culture). Profits profits profits over the healthy and safety of employees. Not impressed.

Pros

A paycheck and free on-site parking.

Cons

People with Director titles rule by emotions, mostly fear, and have little current knowledge about what it takes to drive to outcomes because they have been at AbbVie too long. Inability to engage meaningfully with team members - including contractors - and often either dictates or micro-manages while contradicting themselves with corporate talk. In many cases, office employees and contractors are told what and how to think as well as how to do their jobs. Entrenched silos even in the same department causes unneeded politics. Inability to plan work but still make it seem like they are in control results in everyone doing everyone else's job so there is constant panic and zero accountability.
