Pros

- There are some great people who truly are great and hard working and mean well - Looks great on CV and can learn a lot of experience from a range of different clients - It is a good industry to be working with and you will get some valid experience

Cons

- My experience working in consulting is that your learning and development really does not matter. In the 3-4 years I have been at Accenture, they have barely invested in any sort of training and I feel like, technically speaking, I have not progressed much - You are just a number. I found my experience at Accenture quite isolating. People tend to be focussed on their selves and their progression, you are essentially head to head with others. I found that when it comes down to it, people will not care about you and there is no sense of belonging or community - Way over the top with all this inclusion & diversity and things like that. They like to see you involved or you will find it difficult to achieve promotion - I have never gotten a bonus and quite unsure as to why - They seem to love to hire rapidly and then undertake lay-offs, so I really question the job security - Bench time is important even if they say it is not

Pros

- Active IT and professional community - Some very talented people - Good teaching programs for entry levels - Some very lovely committed people - Some very friendly people - Weird and wonderful work - Work from home - Fantastic work life balance

Cons

- Lot of general politics and a bit who you know not what you know in some accounts (not all mind you some are really good) - Anything with Accenture (dear God their systems are awful) - More 'Consultant' less IT work but lot of zero value to a customer causes a lot of unnecessary frustration at times - Lot of contracts are 80% ish graduates with 20% experienced workforce, causes a lot of stress for experienced staff who just want to get on with it - Very high turnaround in seniors due to demands and workload (new faces everyday, everything has to change at a drop of a hat etc because I'm now have a new boss etc because the other one left.) - Run of the mill salary with little wiggle room to negogiate with Accenture (won't even bring it up, business speak to avoid question) - SYNERGY, or any pointless business jargon that has zero meaning (stop this your better than this) - No real office culture or community, all online if you like that and lost a lot of its special sauce with the takeover. - Lack of real career progression and the system just makes naff all sense . People jokingly stated that it was concocted one afternoon after a heavy session down at the spoons. I sort of believe that it was.

Pros

Schwag, brand name, wonderful C-Suite, especially the CEO, CHR, CIO, CTO and General Counsel.

Cons

People ALWAYS taking credit for others' work (and getting applauded for it even after found out) Sr. Managers who step on the back of others to eventually rise to Director Politics, politics, politics Drama, drama, drama Good work means more work Great relationships mean fast promotion Diversity is not real when people who face race based incidents are required to work and when minority leaders make up lies about race based incidents while at the same time when people that report to them actually have physical or other proof of race based incidents, they are expected to "just get over it" and that "burn out isn't real"
