Pros

The Minneapolis facility has a great number of amenities, which makes it a convenient place to work.

Cons

It is hard to move between different business units due to clicky management. Management is constantly changing and you can go from loving your job one day to hating it the next. Other business unit team members show up at 9:00 am, take an hour lunch, spend an extra hour in the Gym and then leave by 3:00 pm with no repercussion. Other team members are nailed to the wall for showing up 5:00 mins late and not taking a lunch. It's a very dog eat dog environment.

Pros

Lots of vacation, competitive pay practices, better than market bonus practice at lower levels and competitive bonus program as you go higher in your career, good recognition culture

Cons

Some of the career paths have limited mobility. The company is in favor of moving people laterally and giving them additional opportunities, but if you like a certain specialty, you may find your options limited.

Pros

Product line is primarily fixed annuities with some variable annuity and life products. Not a growth company but an established and successful revenue generator for parent company. Smaller size company. Liveliest areas to work are product and distribution. Executive team is very personable, trustworthy and capable. Very well-liked CEO demonstrates integrity and respect. Open communication via employee meetings. Executive team truly appreciates and values employees and it shows. Excellent employee recognition. Community service valued and supported.

Cons

Strategic vision, leadership skills and ability to drive innovation/change are lacking in leaders below executive level, at least in some pockets. It can take years to effect changes that are common best practices externally. Too much time spent on processes that add little or no value. Technology lags but working to improve.
