Too much money to care

Pros

Depending on your position within the company your experience can be vastly different from another, but broadly the benefits are great, offices are very nice with lots of amenities and you'll get to see and work with lots of cool technology. There are great people around. The company is enormous, once you get your foot in the door you can likely find a role that fits your career goals within a year or so.

Cons

In IT Services, teams are chronically understaffed and all middle management cares about is making themselves look good. While yes they will help you out, ultimately they are scrutinized even more than the individual contributors and it shows. Senior leadership doesn't appear to have any coherent direction other than shoving AI down our throats and maintaining uselss metrics that don't benefit the customer. There is so much waste. I'm constantly blown away by how much money is thrown around and wasted. One would think with Frugality being a leadership principal things would be better managed and tracked, but at this point I'm convinced the company just has so much money that is doesn't really matter. There's millions of dollars worth of gear laying around that will never be used. Projects and initiatives often feel reactionary and drag on well past their original deadlines due to poor inter-team communication. At the end of the day you'll stay busy and get paid, but personally there is very little motivation to innovate in such an environment.

Pros

Working at Amazon has been a rewarding and challenging experience. The company truly lives up to its customer-obsessed culture, and that mindset pushes you to think bigger and innovate daily. Leadership principles aren’t just posters on the wall — they’re actually used in decision-making and help guide you to do the right thing for both customers and the team. I’ve appreciated the fast-paced environment where no two days are the same. You’re constantly encouraged to solve problems, improve processes, and make data-driven decisions. The amount of learning and growth opportunities here is unmatched — whether it’s working on new technologies, collaborating with talented people across the globe, or taking ownership of impactful projects. Management sets clear goals and provides the tools and support needed to succeed. I’ve also seen a genuine commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, as well as good work-life balance in my department (this may vary depending on the team). If you enjoy solving complex problems, taking ownership, and working with driven, innovative people, Amazon is a great place to build your career.

Cons

Honestly, I have no cons to list at this time.

Pros

- Good benefits - Competitive pay based on location - Access to training and programs dedicated to Career Growth

Cons

- Leadership not taking accountability of mistakes - its very clear that L6+ do not understand what's going on most of the time - Highly political advancement and lack of promotion availability. - Leadership is always caught lying or going back on decisions when they have positive effect on their direct reports
