Pros

It's a good learning experience for someone who's starting their career. You can learn how business works, how to prioritize, etc. People are mostly very nice and helpful and willing to teach you. For me specifically, I'm a non-tech program manager with an art background. The compensation Amazon offers is much higher than what I can get from other companies that generally hire for my academic background (if you are tech, it's a different story...). This is one of the main reasons that I appreciate Amazon as an employer.

Cons

Work life balance can be pretty ugly - but it depends on the team. My previous team (or to say, the program I was working on) is terrible. My current team is much better, although we still have meetings outside our local working hours. It's kind of inevitable if you are a business owner and trying to drive conversation with people literally all over the world. Also, as everyone knows, Amazon is very cheap as the most rich company. In my years here working is SEA HQ, I've seen them cancelling employee activities year after year. No free food definitely - except for team wise dinner or free pizza sometimes. No free parking.

Pros

Smart people, good compensation, innovative work, learn a lot really fast.

Cons

You get worked to the bone, most people have the personality and drive to put in the hours but that just eggs us all on. I have that feeling of college finals week where you forget to eat, don't do laundry or dishes, and are delirious.. most weeks of the year.

Pros

High salary Solid benefits Smart, driven coworkers Interesting problems Endless project selection Endless room for growth

Cons

Salary and benefits less than other large tech companies High stress culture Lots of teams with poor management to dodge Often friction between teams, lots of dependencies to get anything done Certain organizations desperately need diversity
