Pros

1. Steep learning curve. Has a very strong culture of ownership and freedom. You will learn both as IC and Manager. 2. Lot of growth opportunities. You can easily move to different teams and work on interesting projects 3. Salary and Brand on resume

Cons

1. Work life balance is not healthy. You will easily work 60-80 hours a work if you want to be better than average. 2. Too much focus on promotions. Everyone is always evaluating how will the given task help them in promotion. 3. Not a lot of after office bonhomie. People are loaded with work and any free time goes to the family. Even you developers do not like to spend time with team members. Company culture does not promote/sponsor too many events for team bonding.

Pros

Great to work on products which impact millions (or billions) of people. Lots of smart engineers and access to various perspectives. Focus on the customer is a priority and it's fun to interact with your users. Comp is above average. Work life balance is actually good which is not what I had heard before joining.

Cons

Some of the internal engineering tools are home grown and focused on scale over usability. There can be a lot of on-call depending on your team and the criticality of the product.
