Pros

- Work on very cool projects and have an impact on the company - Very intelligent and competent employees - Good mission/vision that is communicated across the company - Opportunities to move in the company and work with different teams and projects - Great company to work for if you have limited experience and want to learn a lot very quickly

Cons

- Work/life balance is virtually non-existent: expect to work at least 50-60 hours every week and more during the holiday season - Employees tend to get burnt out after 1-2 years and turn-over is high - Amazon management is hit or miss; some managers are excellent while others are constantly under water and struggling to manage their teams - Limited professional development opportunities: Amazon is very frugal and does not like to pay for training or conferences - Limited ability to change systems or processes that are hindering the company

Pros

Exciting work with ability to go far, go fast. You are making history with nearly all that you do.

Cons

No "soul" or identity, everyone is just "passing through".

Pros

Competitive Salary/Compensation and good learning opportunity. You can easily change teams within Amazon.

Cons

I started working in Amazon 3 years ago and from that time I have seen company has evolved a lot. The politics in company increased tremendously. Amazon has a internal feedback tool through which people can post reviews anonymously about any employee. The review is SBI (Situation, Behavior and Impact) based and is totally managed by your Manager. If you are not in good terms with your Manager or you do not have chemistry with your Manager then he/she can totally screw up your career at Amazon. Even though Amazon says it is data driven performance measurement of employee but still there are lot of ways your Manager can play around with it and highlight anything bad someone has mentioned about you. As the tool asks you both employee strength and weakness. I would suggest anyone new joining the company beware of this.. Be prepared to loose your work life balance. You will be working every evening (there is no end to emails/escalations) and almost every weekend.. You are expected to respond to emails even when you are on vacation or personal time off or sick at Amazon. No work life balance...
