Pros

It really depends on what team you are on, but I get to work on very innovative products and solve interesting problems. There are a lot of processes or frameworks in place that I appreciate because it organizes how we organize our work and priorities. There is little that falls through the cracks. Management is really compassionate about COVID and BLM and being very considerate of people's mental health. They are very good about recognizing and rewarding the team.

Cons

Expectations are high. The team is supportive but you will have to take the initiative to get involved, ask questions, and take ownership very early. Onboarding can be rogue so you'll need to figure it out on your own.

Pros

Love the Leadership Principles. Those are real and carry weight here. From the top to the bottom of the company, people live those principles and it meaningfully supports the business. Amazon is also completely customer-obsessed. Its not just hype - customers are at the center of everything Amazon does and it literally comes up every single day in my work. I definitely appreciate that perspective!

Cons

Amazon desperately wants to think of itself as a small company that can be nimble. Unfortunately, there are parts of Amazon that are more like an ocean liner than a speedboat, and ocean liners simply can't turn quickly. Its not a huge issue - just means there is a lot of duplicative work and wasted effort and money. But at the end of the day, it certainly appears that the right thing happens for the customer.
