Pros

Salary, experience, high-caliber peers, nice offices, many different products to work on

Cons

Thankless, constant pressure, everything is important, transactional interpersonal culture, excessive emphasis on writing culture slows delivery in many ways, everyone works extra hours which puts more work on your plate, hyper-individualistic culture and overloaded managers deprive individuals of sufficient coaching

Pros

Every business problem is an AWS problem. You can find the specialization that interests you.

Cons

Lots of good engineers leave to much better competitors/ better pay. AWS doesn't want to compete on talent price. It's a great stepping ladder. Service teams are at minimum capacity. On-call schedules are getting grueling. There is no investment for R&D on the service teams anymore

Pros

AWS is a river, hop in and go for a ride. Very dynamic and never boring when you get to solve complex problems at incredible scale

Cons

You’re just a number and are completely replaceable.
