Pros

Work is genuinely on the cutting edge, and if you work well under pressure you will get plenty. There are a good number of very bright people in the company who it is a delight to work with. It looks like this is a great environment for graduates to get some experience.

Cons

The pace of expansion is meaning fewer people with a high level of understanding of their work, coupled with a higher degree of detailed task management. The burden of processes (badly implemented with outdated technology) seems to be increasing. It now seems quite rare to have a technical discussion with someone who understands anything in any depth - this wasn't the case only a couple of years ago. Despite the processes, there is loads of basic stuff being done in different ways by people coming new to a task, and no will for anyone to step back and set up a good standard way of working.

Smart and easygoing co-workers, good vacations and benefits

Pros

ARM's a good company to work for. Since the company's British, we've got more of a laid-back culture than somewhere like Apple. And we get good holidays and benefits because of the British culture. Mobile stuff is on the way up, and ARM's at the front of that. It's nice to be in a market segment that's trending up instead of down.

Cons

They're a little conservative with money. We don't have fancy headquarters or fabulous perks in the office. Salaries are supposedly lower than at similar American companies. We're not as deep into implementation technology as companies like Intel and Apple, since we mostly license the ARM instruction set.

Thanks for leaving a review! I completely agree that there are some great perks for working for a British company in the US, foremost being the generous vacation and holiday allotment we get. We've had to be a bit conservative as we're growing quickly these days (as you're well aware, having been with ARM for over 10 years!). Hopefully, the new building will address a lot of the issues that you mention, like a nicer building and perks. Salaries are still fairly competitive, but we factor in total compensation including bonuses and RSUs. -Rick C. Social Recruiting Manager

Pros

Good work-life balance; decent facilities (gym, canteen); very transparent internal communications from the top level.

Cons

Not much opportunity to meet people outside your speciality - you see the people in the next room at coffee, but they're working on roughly the same thing as you, and you never see the people in the next building in a context where you'll talk about what you're doing. Salary not spectacular given how expensive Cambridge housing is.
