Pros

The hiring process was very selective. Only the best people were able to join my team and I am working with very talented fellows. The products the company makes are used by billions of people and having that big influence is highly rewarding. We also make very good product on time and of higher quality than our competitors so I feel happy that our customers see this.

Cons

I joined three years ago and moved to Cambridge. After deductions I recieve £2000 a month. My wife is at home to take care of our daughter. Our little apartment bills and necessities.and costs over £1500. I would like to own a house but house prices go up 10% every year. The house I would like to buy is 10 times my salary and not being a British national makes it so hard to get a mortgage. I will never afford to live here. My friends always say that the save as you earn and share bonus will get you the house. They get 10 times investment in the save as you earn scheme when my finish I will only get the money I saved back. They are at the same grade and pay as me but started 2 years earlier than me bought a house for half the price of now and are pay it off from their share bonuses. The bonus this year was 5% which does not even pay for visiting my parents. After 3 years I have to save £15000 but house prices go up £80000. I know many people in Austin and I even visit there and see them. Austin workers for ARM get two times the salary of Cambridge for same grade but it is cheaper to live there than here. I would like to live there instead but it is very difficult visa to get for my family. Worst they laugh at how little we pay in Cambridge.

Thanks for leaving a review. Like all companies, we try to hire the best talent available. This selection process definitely shows by the impact that our engineers have had in helping create an ecosystem of products that are changing the world on a daily basis. Conversations regarding compensation are never easy, so thank you for providing your feedback. We know that real estate prices in Cambridge have gone up over the last few years and unfortunately, that is something outside of our control. We are open and transparent about the bonus payout, and while we had a very good year, we did not reach the threshold to reach the maximum payout. In the short term share prices are tied to performance, as well as to many forces out side our control. An example of this is our last quarter earnings results. Even though we had 22% YOY increase in revenue and a 32% increase in pretax profit, our stock prices dropped 6.4%, which analysts put down to a partner’s financial results not meeting market expectations. However on the longer term view the ARM share price has historically provided an excellent return. We would hope that people who choose to work with us are passionate about what we do and share in the belief that our brilliant people, business model and strategy will continue to grow the company and share price long into the future. Salaries in different locations such as the US and UK will always show large variations. The cost of doing business, market norms and competition for talent varies hugely however we always aim to be highly competitive. Taxes, cost of living, wage inflation and other factors also play into what we pay and finally exchange rates will also fluctuate, so comparing salaries with your colleagues abroad is a moving target. All that being said, do know that we are reviewing compensation levels across all offices and groups. Once completed, salaries will be adjusted as needed. We are also implementing the new AFDS platform, which will allow for more frequent communication between you and your line manager, which can help with annual pay increases when reflecting back on your success from the past year. -Rick C. Pros

- Working for a cutting-edge tech company - Supportive colleagues

Cons

- Exec leadership couldn't care less about its workers - Getting a bit too American in terms of its bullishness. The unique "Britishness" of the company is fading fast

Change is the only constant

Pros

Still has some of the best talent in the industry. But I doubt it would remain so for long.

Cons

The company is undergoing such rapid change over the last year or so, that if it wasn't tragic (close to 15% laid-off) it would've been funny. Yes some change is good but not very frequently - it affects the strategy, alignment and eventually the execution.
