Pros

Company has very skilled and knowledgeable technical experts. Impressive library of assets to be leveraged for sales and project delivery purposes.

Cons

Typically not very cost competitive in the regional / local direct markets. Majority of services sold and delivered on Accenture's coat tails. Many internal processes that incumber speed and flexibility when working with clients.

Blown out of proportion

Pros

The company offers good perks and benefits giving the new grads a good feeling of importance as they enter to the consulting world

Cons

If you are seasoned consultant you will be shocked from your first project. I did several projects and every time I was hoping the other senior consultants will show some professionalism in planning and execution but I get disappointed every single time. The culture followed is to please the client and they achieve that by saying yes to every single request regardless of the feasibility which leads to over promising and hardship on delivery. This practice is followed to keep existing clients and get new clients which works for a while but I've seen older clients slipping away after discovering that they were over promised. Promotion is based how much can you sell to the client and how many resources you can assign to a project but they don't consider the long term vision of what value they provided to the client. The company also survives on Accenture, yet they have a lot to learn from Accenture in terms of process and quality. The 15000+ employees they claim they have are actually Accenture resources who are tagged for Avanade on off-shore centers. In short, the company does a good job on marketing and advertising its brand(following Accenture model) which gives the feeling that it's a great organization to work for while it lacks experience on management and delivery. It's not a bad place to start a career but if you are intermediate to senior IT professional you will know that you could do better somewhere else.
