Pros

-VERY smart people - top notch consultants -notion of stablity is a huge plus- Avanade has been in business over 9 years, long relative to other Microsoft Gold-Certified Partners -great benefits -unsurpassed credentials for work and assets on Microsoft platform - high customer satisfaction rankings support the above

Cons

All of the pros make Avanade seem a no-brainer. But the downsides - -HR has an emphasis on career planning - but this is rarely realized in reality, in reality this is a top-heavy organization providing little opportunity for advancement -clubby atmosphere inhibits career advancement - this seems most pronounced for virtual employees -regrettable lack of sales-savvy - not an 'everyone sells' culture -heavy on process, often for process' sake

Great place to start your career

Pros

Great place to work if you are just starting your career. You can pick up both technology and business skills while working for a lot of diverse clients, if you are open to travel.

Cons

As the company is trying to grow, focus is on sales but not enough on people. Company is teaming up with Accenture more these days, which affects the company culture. Rank and file consultants can feel treated like pawns by senior management. Career model has gone through several rounds of changes recently. But it all felt like 'nominal' changes, not much real stuff there. With those so-called metrics in place, management has short-term behavior because the metrics are done annually.

Pros

Lots and lots of smart and friendly people, a diverse workforce and great access to training resources. A great place to start a tech career and become a well rounded person with a focus on technology. Work with the newest Microsoft technologies, and get your certifications on the house. Please customers and managers, show ambition for technology and working with people, and please customers and managers and you can move very quickly.

Cons

Avanade has trouble deciding if it cares more about its consultants or its customers. Lots of movement and reorganization at the leadership level, with constant reminders to the rank-and-file that it "doesn't change your day job", plus heavy focus on customers leaves many consultants feeling disconnected from the organization. Talks the talk when it comes to collaboration and sharing between employees, but doesn't walk the walk - the community discussion groups (supported purely by the goodwill of the many smart consultants) are a good resource but don't expect an environment where you can work on and contribute meaningful assets unless you can turn them into money trees immediately. Swears up and down that they are not becoming Accenture, which appears less and less true every day.
