Pros

Benefits, Company Vehicle (If you can somehow manage a work life balance to take time off) Only Pro I could think of honestly

Cons

Started with this company thinking it was where I was going to spend my future career. Upon the end of our Work-From-Home time we were sent back into the field with unrealistic expectations. After a while they decided to change the bonus structure to base it on what volume your entire territory does. After a while they decided to increase the call coverage (amount of times you go into each store). Some of us have been having to drive upwards of 4,000 miles just to achieve the same coverage as people who live in cities. The ones that live in cities have 100 stores in a 10 mile radius, while rural assignments have 100 stores in a 120 mile radius. Usually the folks in the city have to achieve 140 calls in a month , while most rural assignments are upwards of 150-180 calls. How is this fair? Since BAT took over this job has been nothing but a joke. They scared off the only person in home office who cared about the Trade marketing team(Mike Auger). The TMs in the field were highly respected and regarded for their work and were always recognized. At this point and time it just seems like we are robots and nothing but a number to them. It is hard to keep a positive outlook when constantly new work expectations are coming down the pipeline while nothing is being changed or removed. Random calls set up for 2 hours to talk about what is going on at Home Office and how their workload is going to change, but no mention or recognition of the Trade Marketing Team. It is an embarrassment. They just want to appease the share holders and keep loading up their own BAT pockets. Anyone on here with a positive outlook on the company has probably been paid off by their SDR in “WOW” points just to attempt to increase the rating. Our biggest competitor (Altria) half the time doesn’t even have their employees in the field, yet they are paid more, drive better vehicles and are taken care of better. Our other competitor (ITG) starts their employees at almost the same pay to take care of dying products. We have the biggest variety of products as opposed to our competition, yet we are severely underpaid. With the severance package coming up, I am sure home office is going to be shocked by the amount of people willing to happily walk away from this job. The culture is completely non existent. It’s just work hard, work hard some more, and continue working hard. Be ready to be over worked, under appreciated, and underpaid.

Pros

All the Territory Managers and those that support us are the HEART AND SOUL OF THE COMPANY IN THE US MARKET. Without our team the US Market will fall within a few years. Please read the reviews for Reynolds American if you want insight into the US Market.

Cons

The US market is falling apart, everything looks great on paper but the reality is that the rate that we are going there will no longer be a US market for BAT. So much product has been forced out to our retail partners in the last year, that millions and millions of dollars are tied up in nicotine products that are sitting in back rooms collecting dust. We have had several more list price increases than our competitors that we are now over price out of the markets. I’m waiting for out top partners, such as Circle K, 7-Eleven, Speedway, Casey’s General Stores, Murphy USA, GPM Investments, Extra Mile, Wawa, to name a few, to finally realize how much money is tied up in Nicotine product inventory that they are not making money. This issue has been more extreme in the last year since the New Leadership Team that currently makes decisions for Reynolds American do NOT know anything on how the tobacco business runs in the US Market. They believe that full priced product can be forced out and any time as a promotion and our retailers have to accept it per the contract. We have launched of 30 new nicotine products in one year with multiple waves of full priced product forced as a promotion. One day, these chains and independent outlets will want to return all the product to Reynolds American or cancel their contracts. I believe that this day will happen very soon. Unfortunately, when this does happen you will not have the people in Trade Marketing there to smooth things over. Majority of these people will be gone due to the decisions and directions of the current leadership management.

Pros

They have this desks which you can put up and down.

Cons

Bulling is the second name of the culture in BAT. People are humiliated, mistreated, and unappreciated. There're leadership absence and very concerning culture gap. They moved people from countries like Malaysia, Russia, Turkey, Venezuela to the HQ and gave them leadership positions without preparing them for cultural differences and teaching them British and European values. It results in the culture of bullying and treating people like slaves. Moreover, their business model is far from ideal. They're completely not ready for the market shift and product pipeline change. Imagine rusty mad man sitting in the old chair, smoking cigar and claiming that the world outside is as cheesy as his mindset. That's BAT. Without modern, effective WoW, processes and governance in place. Without transparency, open communication. People are promoted because they are the part of the cliques or are easy to control, not because they are competent and successful in their roles. Learning is a insult in BAT. Toxic politics is the king. If you're desperate and lacking basic intelligence you should definitely apply to BAT! Wise and intelligent people are escaping the boat now so there'll be some free vacancies very soon.
