Pros

BDO International is having its presence at the world level across all the major countries where one would like to work. Hence choosing BDO International was easy as would give me a global exposure in my professional life.

Cons

The Ahmedabad office specifically has one of the worst Managers and the Associate Directors. The icing on the cake is the pathetic HR department located at Mumbai HO which always gives vague answers to keep the employees at other branches in utter confusions. The highest level politics is clearly visible at least in Ahmedabad office. The Managers and Associate Directors do not have personal life of their own and they expect all the subordinates to work as per their timings which goes into more than 12 hours on an everyday basis. Hence a person working at Ahmedabad office spends half of his day at office only to see his seniors smoke and talk about various issues which the person might not be interested in which in turn means zero personal and social life of all the subordinates working under such seniors perople.

Pros

As with any other workplace, the best reason to work at BDO are certain people in the firm, those who care about you as a person rather than a body to complete jobs.

Cons

Overall the firm is good, just as any of the Big Four. However, like the others, the experience depends on the business segment in which one works. Also, advancement within specialty groups is quite limited as these groups need fewer high level individuals (managers, senior managers, directors, etc.). Avoid the New York expatriate tax practice.

Pros

There is room to move amongst different departments in order to get a wide variety of different accounting fields. People are intelligent and friendly.

Cons

Lower level staff get no recognition for the hard work and hours that you pull in. Very little work to life balance. Compensation is not as competative as other similar firms.
