Pros

Good culture. All managers and directors are always helping out the associates to learn the different valuation concepts and industry trends. Everyone is friendly. National firm, so you get to work across the nation with different offices. Growing group whereas the rest of the valuations industry is pretty mature and stable. Directors are transparent about performance of whole group. Good benefits.

Cons

Natural audit busy season work and life balance is unhealthy and too much. A lot of turnover. Vague year-end goals that are supposed to tie in with the company core competencies.

Lack of structure. Would be great if there was more transparency between leadership team and employees at all levels.

Pros

The company itself does a decent job of providing perks for employees. There are 13 paid holidays per year including the entire week from Christmas Day till New Year's Day. Also, there's an open bar at basically every event, and you're allowed to expense alcoholic purchases on trips. They really fling money around at BDO, which is humorous.

Cons

OVERWORKED. I worked an average of 50 hours a week with a minimum of 45 hours a week and a maximum of 75 hours a week. The flex policy is also terrible--you can only flex two hours a week. Meaning if you work 75 hours for the week, on Friday you can only leave 2 hours early--any earlier and you'll have to use PTO despite putting in two weeks' work already.
