Pros

Great vacation time--apparently the senior management doesn't work for the entire month of August, which means you don't either. Great people--there are a lot of amazing and knowledgable people that work at the US branches. Unfortunately, they tend to quit.

Cons

Horrible management--gross and shocking lack of ability to manage working relationships with other business silos. Preference for promoting French employees--good luck if you're American. Severely undermarket pay Lack of career track--if you like toiling away in the salt mines with no clear direction, this is the place for you. Management does a TERRIBLE job of providing a path for promotion, unless you're French. Toxic work culture, incredibly cheap--Couldn't care less about their employees, especially outside of Paris. Their attempt to placate their overworked and underpaid employees is via pizza parties and cheap champagne. Need I say more? Absolutely pathetic.

Pros

Good work life balance Good PTO

Cons

1) The team does not increase your salary even after 4-5 years of being in the position 2) Good bonus for first and second year at the bank, but it stagnates after 3rd year and really does not increase. In some cases it goes down. You will find that new hires at your level are paid a lot more than you are 3) Management is biased and plays favorites with projects and staffing individuals- if or did not come from IB forget it- they will put you on bad process projects and you will never be positioned to have a good exit opportunity. No IB experience is actually required for doing this job well. 4) Very beauracratic in promotions- if they don't have space at higher management levels, no matter how good, you will never be promoted

Lackluster Bank

Pros

OK base pay. Access to resouces if you know how to use them. Senior managers and bankers cared about junior staff.

Cons

Executive management lacks vision. Some managers spent more trying to one up each other rather than developing junior staff. As a result, junior staff were inadequate and lacked skills to provide meaningful contributions. A few staff carried weight of the entire team, and did not receive sufficient compensation to do so. Bonuses were same for incompetent analysts who worked half a year and for associates who pulled majority of the weight. Middle Management was highly ineffective and most of the time an impediment ti completing work. Absolutely toxic environment with no collaboration across departments. Constant backstabbing and people trying to take credit for others' work. Too many chefs throwing up in the kitchen when it came to policy making. Policies lacked understanding of basic finance, constantly changed and were confusing. Bank is pouring resources into underperforming divisions. Cannot compete with US Banks. Awkward structure, where "pitchbook" staff are more respected than analytical staff.
