Pros

BearingPoint is a good place to start out if you're inexperienced in the field of consulting and want to get your feet in the sand. The company is willing to hire individuals who do not have a background directly related to consulting, but that are willing to learn. The atmosphere is laid back socially, with plenty of post-work camaraderie among the rank and file. Your fellow coworkers are kind and willing to give words of encouragement and helpful tips in the first weeks of employment. The benefits are in line with the consulting field, and full-time employees get plenty of paid time off to vacation.

Cons

The upper management (read: executives) have no clue where the company is headed. The mantra is simply "work, work, work, and we will turn the corner", but where is that corner headed? Off a cliff? Employees worry daily that their particular business unit may be spun off, or at the very least downsized in the near future as the companies' stock continues to flail in the water. Also, it can be difficult to set your career path within the company - workers will often jump from a project focusing on one discipline to another discipline altogether. Pay doesn't quite compare with some competing consulting firms at entry-level positions, but on the plus side the hours aren't quite as bad as at your competitors, depending on the engagement.

Pros

Per Diem is a huge plus when traveling, especially since it's tax free. It compensates for a lot of the downsides.

Cons

Management can be somewhat unorganized, many managers just want to make themeselves look good at the cost of those working underneath them. For example, if you work over 40 hours and the client does not allow you to bill over 40 and you are working 50-60, the managers don't want you to bill your extra hours because their profitability margins will decrease.

Pros

Great young team with a solid leadership and wide variety of projects if operating in a cross-industry practice. You will learn things fast due to sink or swim methodology. The leadership has a good head in trying to expand their business in the market place and in attempting to align documents together to make solutions quicker and easier to offer. Great opportunities to work overseas in Europe or Asia.

Cons

Long hours, lower compensation than other companies, low initial training, public company, tight expense policy. If senior management believes in one technology, it will be hard to break outside the mold and learn more. Training is also somewhat limited as are our ability to draw/borrow resources from other teams within the company.
