Pros

Good employee discount, you get to work with a variety of consumer electronics, management team is helpful and fun to work with when they are available. Best Buy is constantly changing to keep up with the latest consumer electronics so you have to constantly be on top of your game whether you are selling TVs, computers, or vacuum cleaners. In the Geek Squad precinct you get to work with some cutting edge automation tools to diagnose and fix client computers. You get a warm fuzzy feeling when you help out that panicky college student retrieve his or her data and he/she thanks you over and over again. You also get a good feeling when you are able to fix someone's problem in less than 5 minutes.

Cons

Inconsistency between stores, attitudes of employees, lots of high school graduate goof offs running customer service, understaffed at times. Occasionally rude or obnoxious customers. In the Geek Squad precinct you are overwhelmed with doing cumbersome time-consuming pre setups on 40% of the laptops that come off the truck, and of that 40% about half those units will end up getting restored to factory settings because the customer doesn't want to pay $129 for a year of Anti-virus protection or $39 for an optimized computer. So there is a lot of wasted time spent setting up laptops which the PCHO department will likely not sell. Also the GS agents are pulled off of PC repair to ring up sales. This is usually not a big deal except on weekends and days when the store is very busy and there is no time to do the actual PC repair, the GS CIAs are basically cashiers with ties. Understaffing is a major problem on these days. The employees who work behind the customer service desk are usually right out of high school and pay little attention to detail and the CIAs have to deal with a lot of their lack of knowledge. They are usually busy playing games or gossiping amongst each other rather than trying to improve the work environment or help clean up.

Pros

nice pay, great benefits, you know about all electronics coming out, employee discount...especially on store brand electronics and cables.

Cons

management doesnt do anything....unless "doesnt do anything" includes locking themselves in an office used for employee training and watching you tube videos. NO COMMISSION, but daily sales goals are expected and highly pushed to be met....yet supes and managers get bonuses for work that hourly employees are doing.
