Pros

The team synergy at Best Buy is second to none. The core management group has always focused on team wins and contributions. Many life long friends have come from co-workers at Best Buy. The strategies of top leaders have evolved over the years to put the highest regard to the employees that are closest to the end user, the customer. All efforts from a support standpoint have been geared to support this philosophy. The last few years have truly been dedicated to segmenting the different customers that shop at Best Buy and finding the best way possible to meet each and everyone of their individual needs. Being an employee at Best Buy has always been very rewarding in all aspects.

Cons

The pace at times can be so fast that it is difficult to assess how you are doing.

Pros

You really can't beat the discount. If you can get a decent manager you can get even better deals! As a technician you will see a wide variety of technical problems and you will get some great experience. Remember that now a days customer interaction is important and is a marketable skill. Best Buy lets you develop that as far as you want to take it.

Cons

Politics, Politics, Politics - It's a good old boy environment and the biggest problem is that people get promoted that shouldn't. This kills moral something fierce and is really something that should be addressed. You have to have confidence in the manager to lead and when the reason that they get promoted is because they are drinking with the GM that isn't very production. There is also the relationship issues. Managers will often date the young girls and as a result they get special treatment. It's gets worse when people break up or they start dating multiple people in the same store.

Pros

If you play into the politics of Best Buy you can do well and move up fast.

Cons

The leadership at my particular store is far too concerned with numbers and violates SOP (To be fair, they're told to do so by district leadership) in order to get numbers better. I worked in the Geek Squad and rather than being able to actually be a technician you were pulled to the sales floor to sell product when there literally was a line of customers waiting for computer help.
