Pros

The discount. Thats it. You get an awesome discount and you really get a taste of how much Best Buy is ripping off their customers.

Cons

Everything. The managers are incompetent and lazy. They push employees to tell lies to customers to increase profit margin but have ways of explaining it to make it sound justified. They pick favorites and that is how people get promotions. They can deny your time off requests for any reason. The HR staff that is there to help employees being treated unfairly does pretty much nothing. The pay scale is very unfair from one position to the next and talking about pay is grounds for termination because they don't want the employees who are getting screwed to realize it. Overall a terrible place to work unless you want the discount. Don't try to make this into a career.

Pros

Easy to get promoted if you work hard and take on responsibility. But really it is the people...plain and simple. What other job lets you make a living by helping customers, employees, and yourself? You get plenty of opportunities to create relationships with customers and employees. Every day I work, my only goal is to help people. The more employees I help(train, coach, etc) the more profit we make. The more customers I help, the more profit we make. Both in turn get me a bonus as a supervisor. The happier my customers and employees are the lower my turnover and the higher my profits. Figure out how to do that and you will move up the best buy chain VERY fast.

Cons

Dealing with management in the store. Depends on the store but some managers are just incompetent and are promoted based on personal performance not team performance. If everyone hates you in your dept but you perform well you get promoted...no matter your turnover.

Pros

Discounts on consumer electronics. Friendly, family culture. If you can differentiate yourself from others, promotions will come. 5% over wholesale is a great discount to have. They put a lot of effort into making the corporate office a great place to work.

Cons

Even when posting record profits, with a BILLION dollars in the bank, they still like to fire thousands of people to make sure that shareholders are taken care of. Shareholders are very important, but not more important than the quality of life for the people that make the machine run. You have no job security with this company.
