Pros

The starting pay is awesome along with great benefits like health, dental, and an awesome employee discount. Best Buy is #1 in a customer oriented experience, no company can come close to matching that, which I am very proud of. Our customers will come to us for expert tech knowledge, and even better customer service over all other tech retail stores. I have met so many amazing, kind, and hard working individuals working at this company. Over all, a very fun place to work that will bring you lasting friendships while keeping you up to date with the world's technology.

Cons

If you do not like being badgered by leaders constantly to hit Credit Card application and Total Tech Membership goals for the month, this may not be the job for you. The sales floor should be just that: sales. But now it is almost as if your revenue does not matter unless a membership is attached to the transaction. Paired with a bad attitude by select leaders, it has turned into a more stressful, less exciting sales experience. You are expected to ask customers multiple times if they need assistance, sometimes to the point of customer annoyance.

A sinking ship

Pros

A relaxed culture, no one takes things too seriously and there is a pretty decent Ben package. Bonus is either something you can buy a boat with or barely afford a happy meal with (it changes based on company performance). DO NOT get swindled by the bonus pitch if you interview to work here. It’s not worth the risk.

Cons

Far too much turnover in the top leadership positions. I’ve been an engineer at Best Buy for years. In the last six months there have been at least three reorg’s - where teams get new names and new leadership. Just when people get used to things, it changes, a leader gets poached (sal is below national avg) and it starts all over again. Unqualified leaders get sucked into their former bosses role and they don’t fully understand how to run things and the whole company and customer struggle because of it. Cory is a pretty face, nothing more. She, like most CEO’s are puppets and the board members control the strings.

Pros

A good selection of products if a person loves learning about the latest tech from computers to appliances. Fairly inclusive place to work.

Cons

Heavy Micromanagement. Poor at best support from management. Poor supply infrastructure. Poor commission compared to other companies with similar positions. Poor base pay compared to other companies with similar positions. Very toxic work environment. Health insurance premiums, deductable, and coverage PPO healthcare plan are terrible when compared to the healthcare packages offered by other companies in the same vein. You have to master every element of the store, not just one department. Provided with company phone for clientelling and order management, as well as sales targets to hit, but clocking overtime is a fireable offence. So you have to decide to either work off the clock after your 40, or lose on clients and bids. Will be scheduled for two to four consults, each taking an average of two hours, every day. Proposal writing, scopes of work, clientelling, system design, not done in the home during a walk will all have to be done in the first thirty minutes before the start of the work day, or the last thirty minutes at the end. Any amount of traffic will prevent you from taking a lunch. You are expected to have the same product knowledge and training as the "Designer" job title, with a base ten thousand dollars less, and one third of the commission rate, while selling the same product. Very heavy on displays of favoritism by management. Spiffs reduced significantly since the program launch. No support or communication regarding the supply chain issues, which leads to orders being in a constant state of being cancelled. Mass exodus of long term employees for reasons listed above.
